Surveyor. Data Center

Hiring a Surveyor for an exciting data center project in Boydton, VA! This role is crucial in ensuring precision in construction layout and point management. As a Surveyor, you will be responsible for converting designs from Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D into precise field layout points, playing a key role in quality control, compliance, and as-built documentation. The ideal candidate is open to travel and/or relocation based on upcoming project needs.


This role requires the ability to work 6 days per week, typically Monday – Saturday.

Boydton, VA (On-site)


What You’ll Do

  • Spend 90% of time in the field ensuring precise layout execution on site

  • Extract and prepare layout points from Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D models

  • Convert digital models into survey-ready field coordinates

  • Utilize GPS, Total Stations, and Robotic Total Stations to mark precise locations

  • Set control points for construction based on project plans and specifications

  • Perform QC checks to ensure layout accuracy

  • Compare staked positions with design models and report any discrepancies

  • Document as-built conditions for project records

  • Update AutoCAD/Revit models with actual field data for project handover

  • Work closely with engineers, BIM coordinators, and construction teams to align survey activities with project milestones

  • Communicate adjustments and resolve conflicts between design and field execution

  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of surveying instruments

  • Implement best practices for survey accuracy, data integrity, and reporting


What We're Looking For

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or geomatics preferred

  • 5+ years of experience working as a surveyor

  • Certified Trimble/Leica Operator is a plus

  • OSHA 30 and/or other safety certifications are a plus

Skills:

  • Proficient in data management such as processing point files, importing/exporting layout data, and quality control

  • Strong understanding of BIM workflows and digital construction models

  • Ability to troubleshoot survey discrepancies and coordinate solutions

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Desire to work in a collaborative, supportive, team environment

Technology:

  • Proficient using surveying instruments such as GPS, Total Station, and Digital Level

  • Experience with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Trimble Business Center, Leica Captivate, Topcon Magnet, and/or ESRI GIS

  • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
